Reconciliation

Reconciliation cover--.jpg

Bonnie Logan’s songs are nothing if not diverse and intense. They range in style from intimate and warm to tough and in-your-face. At times, they even travel all the way to the magnificent and the inspiring.

Certainly, Bonnie’s music is well-known for a passionate humanity. Her songs invariably remind us about what is real and what it is that counts most in this life.

Recently, Bonnie released a third volume of her work. This one is titled "Reconciliation,"

and it features vocals by two of her favorite singers, Jack Lee and Stella Davies.

The songs here are often dark and intense. The opening track, "I Dreamed," is a powerful piece, rife with apocalyptic visions of a future which could, one day, become our own. The song quite rightfully impressed the esteemed judges of the 2019 Great American Song Contest, who selected it as a finalist in this prestigious, annual international competition.

Bonnie considers “Reconciliation” to be a collection of her most powerful and uncompromising work, to-date. Jack Lee debuts “I Dreamed,” “The World Is on Fire," "He’s a Star,” and “The Phoenix.” Bonnie, herself, performs an updated version of “Mr. Jones,” the song which had us visiting the world of the homeless on the streets of today’s America.

Other notable entries in this collection include some of Bonnie’s personal favorites. Jack Lee performs “I’ve Got Your Number Down” and “Ruby Road.” Jack and Stella Davies sing their poignant duet “I Am Just Like You.” Stella reprises the heart-wrenching “Requiem for the Unloved.” And finally, Stella sings the song that issues a desperate plea to the Universe, during these frightening and confusing times: “Won’t Someone Shine a Light?”

This second volume contains some of Bonnie’s most heart-opening songs. Although written in a variety of styles, each track shares an honesty and an emotional intensity characteristic of Bonnie’s music.

In addition to singing some of the songs herself, Bonnie calls on a group of extraordinary singers to bring her songs to life. Even as her writing inhabits different personas and situations, her sensibility is always present.

On this volume, Bonnie is the lead vocalist on "Enter the Light” and “Mr. Jones." Jon Rosen is heard on "The Road Less Traveled By," and Laura Allan sings "Time, Stand Still" and "For Real." Jana Anderson is featured on "Money in Her Bed," and Laurel Massé sings "Take a Second Chance." James Antunez contributes the vocals on "No Regrets."  On "Your Eyes," the featured vocalist is David Morgan, and Teresa James sings "The Game's Over."

Among songwriters, Bonnie Logan is a hidden gem. She does not shy away from unique topics and situations in her music, even if it takes her far away from the usual.  The images in her lyrics often enter your consciousness on its blind side, turning your mind in unexpected directions.  Even as she takes on weighty matters, as with “All That Might Have Been,” there is still time for funky fun in a song like “I’ve Got Your Number Down.”

In addition to singing “All That Might Have Been” and "The Magic Key" along with James Antunez, Bonnie called on some of LA's finest singers to sing her songs. Laura Allan sings "Pale Moon on the Rise," and Jana Anderson sings "Let Love Come First Tonight." Stella Davies is featured on "Won't Someone Shine a Light,” “Requiem for the Unloved," and "I Am Just Like You," along with Jack Lee.

Jack also sings "Ruby Road,” “I've Got Your Number Down,” “The Heat," and "He Was an Evil Man."
