About

Bonnie

Singer-songwriter Bonnie Logan is a woman of intense passion and strong convictions. She prides herself on being honest, direct, and outspoken. Not surprisingly, her emotions and point of view are readily apparent in her music.

As a member of a family who all enjoyed music, Bonnie grew up singing, starting at age three. She and her older sister performed duets for the entertainment of family and friends. Bonnie learned early on that, using her strong, rich alto voice, she had a natural ability for creating harmonies. Years later, when she took up songwriting, she discovered that this skill served her well in her role as composer.

Bonnie came to appreciate music in its many forms and styles, thanks to her exposure to both secular and sacred music, from elementary school on through her college years. During that time, she performed as a member of numerous choral groups and ensembles, as well as in the spotlight as a soloist. Over the years, Bonnie’s distinctive alto voice found its way onto the stage in musical theatre productions, in clubs, and in showcases in a variety of locales: in the New York State Capital Region, in North-Central New York, in the Hudson River Valley, and even in the Big Apple. Ultimately, all of these experiences informed what later became her multi-faceted songwriting style.

Songwriting became a passion, once Bonnie moved to California and found inspiration in the music, art, and lifestyle of the “Left Coast.” In truth, however, Bonnie’s decidedly diverse taste in music was also the result of having “lived America.” Time spent residing in Florida, Washington State, and Michigan, as well as in New York and California, contributed to her eclectic songwriting style. Bonnie’s vocal music runs the gamut, from pop to jazz to country to spiritually-oriented compositions, as well as children's songs. Most recently, her compositions have focused on major social themes and global issues.

Bonnie's original music has found an audience in places near and distant, including in the Far East. Her haunting ballad "Pale Moon on the Rise" was recorded by Chinese pop star Priscilla Chan, under the PolyGram/Universal label. The CD on which the song was included quickly moved to #1 on the charts in China and throughout Southeast Asia. Today, "Pale Moon on the Rise" has become a standard in that part of the world. Bonnie's poignant ballad "All That Might Have Been" was featured in the heart-wrenching PBS/Frontline documentary "Faith and Doubt at Ground Zero," which aired to acclaim, multiple times, both in the U.S. and abroad.

Here at home, "All That Might Have Been" became part of the concert repertoire of the Gay and Lesbian Chorus of Washington, D.C. Another of Bonnie's songs, "Moonlight and Mistletoe," was a favorite of iconic soap star Eileen Fulton, who performed it at the holidays in her live cabaret shows and also recorded it on a special holiday CD.

In 2016, Bonnie decided to use her powerful and probing original song "Won't Someone Shine a Light?" as the music bed for a You Tube video. Her goal was, and remains, to bring attention to the hypocrisies and injustices which are undermining the defining foundations and fabric of life in the United States. Bonnie collaborated on the project with videographer-editor-producer Veronica Stephens of Saratoga Springs, NY. The video was completed and released online in November 2016 and has since garnered praise from many sources. It can be found here.

Recently, Bonnie completed another You Tube video, featuring her song “Requiem for the Unloved.” The piece highlights the tragedies and injustices that the poor and the powerless of our world endure due to the blatant indifference and even outright cruelty inflicted by the privileged and the elite, including in our own country. The song is a clarion call for compassion for the most vulnerable among us.
Bonnie’s solo CD, titled “All That Might Have Been,” features Bonnie’s emotional performance of the widely-loved song of the same name, as well as other pieces that rank among her favorites.

In late 2019, Bonnie released a second CD of her songs. This one is titled "Reconciliation," and it features vocals by two of her favorite singers, Jack Lee and Stella Davies. The songs on this CD are often dark and intense. They include "I Dreamed," a powerful piece, rife with apocalyptic visions of a future which could, one day, become our own.
