Won't Someone Shine a Light?

©2016 Bonnie L. Logan

So many voices, so little said. We stand at a critical juncture, bewildered, confused, desperate for a leader in whom we can safely place our trust. But where do we turn and to whom do we listen? Will a clear and steady voice rise above the chaos and confusion? Will one, true and virtuous leader emerge from the shadows and guide us to a higher plane? We lift our voices to the heavens, issuing an anguished plea: "Won't Someone Shine a Light?"

Requiem for the Unloved

©2017 Bonnie L. Logan

They’re out there.
Can’t you hear them?
Crying in the night,
Their anguish a part of
Where they stopped in time.
Each face is so weary,
Eyes that hold no light,
So pointlessly punished
For attempting life.

Don’t cover your ears; don’t look away. Those anguished cries beg to be heard. Will you speak for the powerless? Will you defend those who cannot defend themselves? Who are you really, America? What is it you stand for, now? The clock is ticking and time runs short, and the entire world is watching.
